work is good.
it's kicking my tail a little bit, but it's good.
my tootsies hurt, but mama's got new shoes and tomorrow will be great.
it is nice to have an agenda for the day.
my boss is great. i am not making the mistake of thinking she is a friend.
she's friendly, sure. but she's my boss.
my co-workers are nice people. a few already have nicknames (in my head). there will be stories from time to time.
i've been abundantly blessed. i know i have been given far more than i deserve.
god is always good, even when my days were as dark as my nights. his goodness is everywhere in my life.
i wanna spread it around.
ike update: my father and his wife (who has now returned from her cruise) are staying with us because they don't have electricity at their house.
it is cozy. co-zy.
i know that one day, when he's gone, i'll look back on this time and be grateful for it.
i'm just saying that this house seems much smaller these days.
sigh.

Ike. Saturday day and Saturday night.
It's powerful that something that cannot be captured or seen can create as much havoc as it does. Wind is amazing. I had to get out of the house for a bit on Friday night, so I went outside to sit on the driveway. It was really nice. But it definitely got uglier as the night went on. As I went to bed on Friday night, the wind was particularly loud and mean sounding.
We lost electricity around three a.m. on Saturday and the wind and rain were really in high gear at that point. Yesterday was a long, muggy and soggy day. Being cooped up sometimes makes people mean and irritable. I'm just saying that I saw a bit of that yesterday.
Some trees fell on my Dad's house but not through the roof (yay for scrawny pine trees!) so there wasn't a lot of damage there but there is debris everywhere. Cleanup will be less than fun.
We have electricity but my father does not, so he's here along with this guy Terry he knows.
Cozy.
My temper is short and my dad really, really hurt my feelings earlier with something he said. I need some alone time but it doesn't seem to be forthcoming.
Damn hurricane.

Ike. Friday night.
Headed to bed. Wind is picking up. County officials are saying the possibility of flooding is high but the weather people are sort of downplaying the storm (after building it up for the last 36 hours).
Whatev. I'm going to sleep. Whatever happens happens.

Ike. Friday afternoon.
"It's going to do tremendous damage over a large area even if it doesn't strengthen anymore," predicted former hurricane center director Max Mayfield.
That's directly due to Ike's size. Experts are trying to figure out when they've seen a storm this wide. Ike's tropical storm force winds stretch for 510 miles, and weather radar from Galveston to Key West can see its outer bands. That's about 70 percent larger than an average hurricane. Via.
I think I just wet my pants.
